Scheme implemented by the District Social Welfare Officer, Salem  

Hon'ble C.M. issues deposit Receipt under Girl Child Protection Scheme on 22.7.2002 at Salem. The District Collector issues deposit receipt under Girl Child Protection Scheme on 10.6.2002.

 1.Girl Child Protection Scheme

                     Girl Child Protection Scheme aims at small family norm & eradicating female infanticide.

 Eligibility:

                     Parent aged below 35 years with no male heir & having undergone sterilisation, should apply within one year from the date of birth of the girl child.

 Benefit:

 

Scheme-I

Only one girl child

Rs.22,200/- as deposit

Parent income below Rs.50,000/-p.a.

Scheme-II

Two girl children

Rs.15,200/- for each child

Parent income below Rs.12,000/- p.a.

  

2.Tamizhaga Arasu Kalappu Thirumana Nithi Uthavi Thittam:

                     This scheme is being implemented to eradicate untouchability and to encourage communal harmony in the society.

 Scheme-I:

                    Either one of the couple should belong to SC or ST.

                    The couple is given with a sum of Rs.20,000/- (Rs.10,000/- as NSC and Rs.10,000/- as cash) by way of assistance.

 Scheme-II:

                    Either one of the couple should belong to Forward class. The couple is given with a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rs.7,000/- as NSC and Rs.3,000/- as cash) by way of assistance.

 Eligibility:

1.                 The age of bride should be between 20-30 years on the date of marriage.

2.                 a) SC or ST marrying BC/MBC/FC

b) BC or MBC marrying FC

3.                 Application should be submitted within 2 years from the date of marriage.

 3.Dr.Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Re-Marriage Assistance Scheme:

                    This scheme is being implemented to give new life and security to the widow.

                    The couple is given a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rs.7,000/- as NSC and Rs.3,000/- as cash) by way of assistance.

 Eligibility:

1.                 The age of the widow should be between 20-30 years.

2.                 Application to be submitted within 6 months from the date of marriage.

 4.E.V.R.Maniammaiyar Ninaivu Scheme of Fiancial Assistance to the marriage of daughters of poor widows:

                     This scheme is being implemented since 1981-82 in order to assist the widowed mother to get her daughter married.  The quantum of assistance has been enhanced to Rs.10,000/-. from 1.10.2001

 Eligibility :

 

1.                 The daughter of the poor widow should have completed 20 years at least on the date of marriage.

2.                 The annual income of the family of the widow should not exceed Rs.12,000/-

3.                 The application should be submitted prior to marriage.

 5.Annai Therasa Ninaivu Scheme of Financial Assistance to the marriage of Orphan Girls

                     This scheme is being implemented since 1985-86 in order to assist the Orphan girl to her marriage and the quantum of assistance has been enhanced to Rs.10,000/- from 1.10.2001.

 Eligibility :

 1.                 The bride should be an orphan.

2.                 The bride should have completed 20 years on the date of marriage.

3.                 The annual income of the Orphaned girl should not exceed Rs.12,000/-

 6.Free supply of Books & Note books to the widow’s children

 

                    This scheme is being impelemented to assist the poor widows to educate their children upto 12th Standard.

 

Eligibility : 

1.                 The mother of the student should be a widow.

2.                 The annual income of the widow should not exceed Rs.12,000/-

 

7.Annai Sathyavanimuthu Ammaiyar Scheme of free supply of Sewing Machines:

                     This scheme is being implemented to assist the widow/deserted wife/women belonging to families below poverty line/ handicapped men & women to earn their bread and to educate their children.

 

Eligibility: 

1.                 The age of the applicant should be between 20-40 years.

2.                 The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs.12,000/-.

 8.Tailoring Centres: 

                    Following Tailoring Centres are functioning under Social Welfare Department.                  

1.Tharamangalam Tailoring Centre- Only for Adi-Dravidar Ladies.

          2.Yercaud Tailoring Centre- Only for Tribal Ladies

          3.Aranuthumalai Tailoring Centre- Only for Tribal Ladies.

          4.Kolli Hills Tailoring Centre – Only for Tribal Ladies.

 

Benefits: 

          Stipend Rs.50/- per month for each trainee.                

                 

9.Sathiya Ammaiyar Ninaivu Government Orphanages

                 Two Government Orphanages are functioning at Salem and Pethanaickenpalayam with the sanctioned strength of 250 and 100 respectively. 

 Eligibility for Admission: 

1.                  Children for whom either father or mother is alive and not in a position to take care of them.

2.                  Orphan and abandoned children

3.                  Annual income of the parents or guardian should not exceed Rs.12,000/-

Age Limit:

                        Female children            :            5 to 18 years

                        Male Children            :            5 to 10 years.

Benefits:

                        Free education, uniform and boarding are given to the inmates of the home.  

10.Govt. Service Home Higher Secondary School, Salem-5

                     Govt. Service Home Higher Secondary School, Salem was opened on 4.8.1978.

 Aim:

                    For the upliftment of the widows, deserted  & destitute  women.

 Benefits:

1.                 Free Education and Vocational Training.

2.                 From IX to XII , Tailoring Certificate Course (1 Year duration) is also given.

3.                 Free food, shelter & uniform are given.

4.                 The inmates who have passed Xth Std. & XIIth Std. are recommended for ANM and Teacher Training Courses respectively.

Eligibility:

1.                 Should have studied VIII Std.

2.                 The age of the inmates should be between 18-40 years.

 Strength:

                             Total sanctioned strength is 130.
